Braces
Invisalign
Appearance
Braces consist of visible metal brackets attached to the teeth, connected by wires. There are also ceramic braces available that blend in with the teeth to some extent but are still noticeable.
Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners that are almost invisible when worn.
Comfort
The metal brackets and wires of traditional braces tend to cause discomfort and irritation to teeth and cheeks.
Invisalign aligners are smooth and typically cause less irritation. Less discomfort – some experience slight soreness during the initial days of wearing a new set of aligners
Removability and oral hygiene
Braces are fixed onto the teeth and cannot be removed by the patient. Oral hygiene is more challenging to brush and floss. Additional tools such as interdental brushes, special orthodontic brushes, water flossers, floss threaders can assist with maintenance of proper oral hygiene.
Invisalign aligners are removable, allowing the wearer to take them out for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Able to brush and floss as per normal. Able to clean aligners with not much difficulty as well.
