Dental Implant

Dental Implants are used to replace the root of the missing tooth, serving as the support for your new tooth (crown) or teeth (bridge – a row of crowns). In the case where all teeth are missing, implants may be used as support for full dentures.

Dental implants are done by surgically inserting a titanium screw into the jaw bone. Over time, the implant and jaw bone fuse, allowing the implant to function as mentioned above. The dental implant will be placed under local anesthesia, which is delivered by injection.

Your doctor must first access if you are suitable candidate for a dental implant as factors such as poor jaw bone quality, long term medication or severe medical illnesses may affect the integration of the implant and the jaw bone. A 3D CT scan and consultation may be necessary for a complete clinical and radiographical examination to deem your suitability and to identify any potential risk factors.
