Dentures are removable appliances with artificial teeth. Dentures can be made of acrylic, metal or a more flexible plastic. You may require partial or complete dentures depending on the number of teeth needed to be replaced.
The process of making new dentures for you may require several visits to complete a few stages including impression taking, try-ins and the final issue of the denture. There may be an interval of about a week between stages as the denture is sent to an external dental laboratory for fabrication.
If you have lost all your teeth in your upper or lower jaw, you may opt for implant-retained dentures. Instead of being seated on gum tissue, which may cause movement while speaking or eating, implant-retained dentures are seated on dental implants which have been surgically inserted into your jaw bone.
